Dr. Jackson stands on stage behind a BCS podium addressing the audience.“These seniors have been leaders in our school system, and our schools are forever better because of them,” said BCS Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson. “They lead in the hallways, they preserve shared traditions, and they volunteer in school communities. As these students prepare for their next chapter, I’m very optimistic for our future, and the amazing things they will do.”

This year’s special guest speaker was Kinsley Kelly, a 2017 Top Scholar from A.C. Reynolds High School. During her time as a student, she was active in the Environmental Science Club and Animal Science classes. She went on to receive undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Tennessee, and now provides livestock nutritional consultation for the Purina Corporation.

“Use your gifts in a way that feels aligned with who you are,” Ms. Kelly advised the Top Scholars, sharing that they may plan for one career path, then discover there’s another path that brings them more fulfillment. “Changing paths is a sign of growth. Remember to hold your plans lightly, and your values tightly.”

Each senior received a Top Scholar medal to commemorate their commitment to excellence in their studies.
