T.C. Roberson’s trophy case is a little more crowded, after a big honor bestowed upon its head baseball coach.
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has named Eric Filipek as its 2024-25 National Baseball Coach of the Year. He is one of just two dozen high school coaches nationwide to receive a national award from the association this year.
In his 15 years with the Rams, Coach Filipek has had teams bring home four state 4A baseball championships, including the historic consecutive 4A “three-peat” the team achieved last year. The association also noted the community projects he’s helmed with his players, including the Ted E.Tourist Adapted Baseball League for special-needs players. Coach Filipek made sure the adaptive league players were with the Rams in spirit during its most recent 4A state title, bringing a water cooler adorned with their names and photos to the state playoff game.
