Welcome to Foods 1.  Our class is part of the Career Technical Education Department at TCR.  There are many opportunities for you and/or your student in the CTE department and we look forward to the opportunity to share our world with you.  In Foods 1 we will be covering a wide variety of information pertaining to food:  Safety and Sanitation, kitchen terms, measuring, mixing, knife skills, nutrition and healthy living, etiquette and manners, family budgeting and meal planning.  I will be teaching your student the food curriculum that the state of NC has chosen, I realize that there are many ways to accomplish certain goals in the kitchen, but for our purposes I will be teaching in a specific manner and that is how the students will be tested.  Foods 1 will take a state made end of course exam at the end of the term and it will count 25% of their grade.
A bit about me.  I have a huge place in my heart for TC Roberson.  I was lucky enough to be educated from first grade through high school in the Roberson district.  My husband and I loved this district so much that we chose to live here so our own 3 children could also attend these wonderful schools.  I attended WCU and am currently attending ECU online to further my education.  I am looking forward to the opportunities this holds.  
Outside of class, I love to cook (surprise), visit the amazing local restaurants in Asheville, travel to new and exiting places, take care of my animals at home (including 3 dogs and 12 chickens) and most of all visiting our children at their colleges on weekends for football games or cooking for them when they come home.

1. 6 small or 3 large glue sticks
2. 1 ream of paper OR 1 bottle of dawn dish washing liquid 
3. 1 box of kleenex
4. Magazines with recipes and/or old cookbooks
