Course Overview


Civics and Economics teaches students how our government, the media, and public opinion effect the everyday lives of all Americans. Civics is an opportunity for students to learn to a make positive impact as a citizen of this country. The economic component of this course is designed to teach fundamental concepts of the scarcity and application of our world's resources. This course is a year long class for the freshmen within the Freshman Academy.


The purpose of Honors World History is to develop a greater understanding of the development of global processes and contacts within and between societies.  The course will focus on relevant factual knowledge based in a framework of leading interpretive issues and types of historical evidence.  World History illustrates how members of society have empowered themselves to make changes in the world. We will look at the beginnings of civilizations across time and place and follow the common binding human elements through time and place.
