Course Overview

To take Health Science ll you must take the prerequisite of Health Science I. Health Science ll covers Career Decision making, Communication/Teamwork, Legal and Ethical issues. Wellness, Infection Control, Finances in Healthcare, Trends in Healthcare, Safety, Support Services, and you become CPR certified.

In order to be in Nursing Fundamentals of Nursing, students must apply. Typically the application process can start as early as February. The prerequisite is the completion of both Health Science I and Health Science ll.  The application process includes an essay, teacher recommendations, your prior attendance and behavior and grades in Health Science I and II. In this class students learns 54 CNA skills and complete classwork on the care of the elderly. There is a 40- hour mandatory clinical experience which entails caring for long- term care residents. Students who complete all required class work and clinical time become eligible to sit for the CNA exam. This exam has two components. There is a written exam and a skills exam.  In this class, there is an opportunity for a student to become a CNA.
