Adopt-A-Highway plaqueSince 1994, T.C. Roberson High School's Air Force JROTC program has worked to keep our area roadways clean, clear, and safe through the NC Dept. of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway program. This week, they received special award for 25 consecutive years of service!

Col. Tom Bell (USAF, Retired) explained that the ongoing effort exemplifies the Air Force core value of Service Before Self.

"Cadets understand the importance of being part of something bigger than themselves and the importance of giving back to their school and community," he said.

Each year, the students plan, organize, and execute several clean-up effort, with team leaders designated over certain areas of road. All trash and debris collected is properly bagged for disposal. The group's most recent clean-up occurred the day of their school's first home football game.

Their plaque reads, the "North Carolina Department of Transportation recognizes TCR AFJROTC NC 805 for outstanding stewardship and commitment to protecting North Carolina's environment by participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program for 25 consecutive years."

Thanks for your many years of service to our community, Roberson cadets!
